• To my great dismay I found out that during training everyone was restricted to the base. We were out on operations all day, everyday, and were exhausted when we finally got back to the barracks. Weekends were spent in classes. It was the most intense six weeks that I have ever experienced.
• Mom and I were in communication as often as possible, but that was no substitute for being together. I was climbing the walls after only one week. I had dreams every night about Mom. While the dreams were good they could not hold a candle to reality. Mom and I agreed she would come up for my graduation. I could hardly bear the wait.
• There was some good news in that I was going to be assigned to the base for at least a year after training. At least I would not be going overseas, for at least year anyway.
